Howard Rutter has joined LegalandFinancial100.co.uk from Lupton Fawcett in Leeds

Howard is a Director in the firm's Dispute Management Department where he deals with a wide range of dispute management matters for a diverse client base.

He heads the Department's Chancery Team which manages disputes falling to be dealt with in the Chancery Division of the High Court of Justice including Directorship disputes, director and shareholder disputes, contentious probate and disputed estate matters, freehold and leasehold property disputes and building disputes.

Howard was admitted as a solicitor in 1981 and has practised within litigation his entire professional career.  Howard has vast experience of all aspects of litigation and there are a few areas of law in which Howard has not practised.

 

In 1989, Howard established the Commercial Dispute Resolution Department at Lupton Fawcett and in 1996 launched a specialist Chancery Dispute Management, comprising of five fee earners, and which concentrates on disputes centred around:

 

1.       Directors, Shareholders and Partners disputes.

2.       Litigation involving freehold and leasehold property.

3.       Professional negligence principally against solicitors.

4.       Disputes involving Estates and Trusts.

5.       Construction claims.

 

Howard acts for a large number of commercial companies and is often used a “sounding board” by the Directors of those companies.

 

Howard has successfully concluded a large insurance claim following a fire at a factory which involved a three week trial in the High Court in London.  Howard also has experience of civil fraud and has acted in many interesting and unusual cases.

 

Howard is noted as an expert in the Legal 500 for his director shareholder work.

 

Howard is a trained mediator, a member of the Association of Partnership Practitioners and a member of the Contentious Trusts and Probate Practitioners and is a former member of the Institute of Arbitrators and passionately believes in the resolution of clients’ problems, either by negotiation, mediation, expert determination or, as a last resort, litigation.

 

Howard’s hobbies range from skiing, music, making rocking horses, food and wine.
